The International Skating Union (ISU) is pleased to announce the publication of its 2027 ISU Anti-Doping Regulations (Communication No. 2834), which will enter into force on January 1, 2027, in alignment with the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code.
While the 2027 revision does not introduce major changes to the existing Anti-Doping system, it reinforces the ISU's governance framework and further strengthens its commitment to protecting clean sport, safeguarding participants and ensuring fair and independent Anti-Doping processes across all skating disciplines.
The updated Regulations include several important developments, particularly in the areas of proportionality in sanctions, the protection of vulnerable participants, the independence of Anti-Doping decision-making, integrity and the allocation of responsibilities between the ISU, the Skating Integrity Unit (IU) and the International Testing Agency (ITA).
The implementation of the updated Regulations is an important responsibility for all ISU Members.
Each Member is required to incorporate the Regulations, either directly or by reference, into its governing documents, constitution and/or rules, ensuring that they form part of the sporting rules binding on its members.
This is essential to enable the ISU to enforce the Regulations directly in relation to Athletes – including National-Level Athletes – and other Persons under its jurisdiction, such as Athlete Support Personnel.
Furthermore, adoption of the Regulations is a condition of ISU Member participation in International Events and other ISU activities. Members must therefore ensure that the Regulations apply to all Athletes and other Persons involved in their national and international sporting activities, and cooperate fully with all aspects of the ISU Anti-Doping Program.
Key deadline: January 1, 2027
The ISU invites all Members to familiarise themselves with the 2027 ISU Anti-Doping Regulations and take the necessary steps to ensure their timely adoption and implementation ahead of their entry into force on January 1, 2027.
By working together to uphold these standards, the ISU and its Members continue to strengthen the foundations of clean sport and protect the integrity of skating worldwide.
