ISU Council nominates Integrity Unit Board Candidates and Welcomes New Speed Skating Membership
15 May 2026
The International Skating Union (ISU) Council has recently taken two important decisions that further consolidate the growth of skating worldwide: the nomination of three candidates for the future Skating Integrity Unit Board and the granting of Provisional Membership status in Speed Skating to the Ecuadorian Skating Federation.
Candidates for Skating Integrity Unit Board
The International Skating Union (ISU) Council has taken a major step forward in the establishment of its Skating Integrity Unit by nominating three dynamic and highly experienced experts in sports governance to serve on its Board.
Following a comprehensive selection process, the ISU Council shortlisted five candidates and conducted a series of interviews to identify the strongest combination of expertise, leadership, diversity and geographical representation for the Board’s three positions. The nominated candidates - one chairperson and two Board members - will be presented for election at the 60th Ordinary ISU Congress, taking place in Tenerife (Spain) from June 10–12, 2026.
The candidates forwarded to Congress are:
- Joyce COOK (GBR)
- Herman de HAAN (NED)
- Jill Pilgrim (USA)
The ISU extends its sincere thanks to all applicants and contributors involved in the process to date. The future Skating Integrity Unit will benefit from a remarkable depth of expertise and experience, further strengthening the principles of integrity, transparency and good governance that lie at the heart of the ISU Vision 2030 long-term strategic roadmap.
Ecuadorian Skating Federation Granted Provisional Membership in Speed Skating
The ISU Council has granted the Ecuadorian Skating Federation Provisional Membership status in Speed Skating. Already a full ISU Member in Figure Skating, the Federation successfully fulfilled all governance requirements for accession to Provisional Membership in the discipline.
The ISU looks forward to working closely with the Ecuadorian Skating Federation to support the continued development of Speed Skating in the country through ambitious short- and medium-term development plans designed to benefit athletes and the broader skating community.
